    Shipping Help Again

    Hi

I have another question. I'm only shipping to the UK and have a fixed price of £2.50 for all shipping. On the left hand I have the number of basket and a sub total, I would liek to have the £2.50 add to this sub total and also when the user clicks on the basket page they see £2.50 as the postage. At the moment this doesn't happen until they select their country. Any advice as how to do this.

    Cheers

    Hi Darren,

You could try using the "Request Location Information Early" function. If this options is enabled the customer will be prompted to select their shipping zone after adding their first product to the basket. This means Actinic can then calculate the shipping before the checkout stages.

The problem with this is you need to have your shopping mode set to "Quantity on Confirmation Page" and shipping set to Advanced mode.

I found this worked with your style of set up:

1/ Go to Design | Options | Shop Defaults | Check "Quantity on Confirmation Page"
2/ Go to View | Business Settings | Ordering | Check "Request Location Information Early"
3/ Click the "Shipping and Handling" tab and check "Total Weight"
4/ Remove all zones and classes except "UK" by right clicking then click “Delete selected item”
5/ Right click on "UK" and click Add Class | New Class. Call it Standard then click OK.
6/ Click on the "Standard" class and enter a weight of 0.01 and cost of £2.50.
7/ Select "Take highest value in the table" for the Excess. Click OK.
8/ I’m assuming your using simple tax so go to Advanced | Locations, scroll all the way down and right click on "None of the Above" and delete it. Click OK
    9/ Upload and test.
10/ You may wish to modify Design | Text - Phase -1 and ID 171.

I think that is it. Let me know if you get any problems.

      Hi Toby

Thanks for this but I want the customer to be able to add the qty on the more product page. So from the sound of it this isn't going to be possilbe?

      Cheers

Yes, I'm afraid the above solution will only work Quantity on Confirmation Page.

          Hi

Is their really no way for this to work. Can I not just have the subtotal and then add the £2.50 as this is my only postage cost. I just want to show the customer what the total they are going to have to pay.

If you view my test site you might get an idea of why I want to do this: http://www.djwade.com/acatalog/test/acatalog/

Any help or advice would be great.

          Cheers

Could you maybe use a £2.50 handling charge, and then just not use shipping charges at all. You can still get the whole location-restriction thing by restricting all payment methods to the UK in 'Business Settings | Payment and Security'.

Thanks for this Chris. After doing some user testing I have had to re-think my postage, and not charge for the greeting cards. As people thought it was a bit much to charge £2.50 for just a card.

So I then changed the wording around, but this is useful to know.

              Cheers
