Bandwidth

Since launching V6 of Catalog our bandwidth usage has dramatically increased from an average of 3.5GB to over 7GB, however the number of page requests is about normal at
6-700,000. Is this becuase the same number of people are looking at more of the site (better navigation?) or does v6 inherently use more bandwidth?
Any ideas would be helpful

Could it be to do with the introduction of pop-up extended information windows? Are you using these?

v6 really is not much larger in terms of bandwith than v5 was. There have been some issues with the v6 checkout using more resources than the v5 checkout, but that is about it.

Dear Chris,
I'm not using many pop ups at present and although we have changed the structure of the site the only major additions in terms of products were 100 or so new photo's.
I think that a lot more pages are bieng viewed now as a result of the better navigation that we have introduced with v6, hence the increase in bandwidth use?
We have gained a few more orders but not as many as expected with the increase in 'hits' Do you think that the SSL padlock and https in the address bar would make a lot of difference to customers in terms of confidence. Are there any statitics on this?
If so we will go with a shared SSL package through Actinic.
