catlog page loading index.html as image...?

I have been running 'websiteoptimisation.com' speed test on my site, and in the file size list it showed an image file called http://www.discount-aromatherapy.co.uk/#FFFFFF with a size of 16246 bytes.

If I type that url in it takes me to my home page, which having looked on my ftp server is 16246 bytes in size...

I have checked several of my catalog pages and they all seem to do this.

Is this an actinic bug (or feature?), a bug on the site optimiser test or a missing bracket or something in one of the primary.html files that is causing funny results?

What info are you trying to get from using websiteoptimisation?

    Is it the page weight?

I would suggest that the problem here is the script that you are running and not your site

the page is a bit slow that's all, just trying to identify any way to reduce the size....

have reduced overall page size from 250k to about 180k, but it suggests 100k is an optimum size... not much chance of that as the html alone is 140k before images and scripts!

it's just that that one entry is now the 3rd biggest item on the page by size and I just wanted to make sure it wasn't actually being downloaded because of some weird problem somewhere...

        According to http://www.websiteoptimization.com/s...nalyze/wso.php

your index page weighs in as follows

        HTML 16K
        Images 51K
        Javascript 63K

the single biggest offender is overlib.js at 44K - I guess this is this the script that displays the floating boxes?

Having looked at the page there's not much more optimisation you can do on your images, unless you look to shaving 2k of each of the 7 main images (logo and products), but that only reduces by 14k.

If you really want/need to cut the weight then the floating boxes have to go

yeah, I know. I took them off the essential oils page (most popular entry point) as they weren't really helping anyway. But the home page is keeping them - cause they're cool!
