    Help with upgrading to V7

Is an upgrade something that can be done myself? I was told it depends on my level of customisation, could someone have a look at my life jacket store quickly and let me know if it will be easy or not?

my developer has let me down big time by not even providing a quote, and i want the features of v7 preferably before v8 is launched!

i am fairly skilled but need some advice, i dont want to break a store that works! !

    Thanks

    Hi Sally,

After having a look at your site, upgrading it from 6.1.3 to 7.0.1 shouldn't cause you too much problems, but you never really know until you try.

The good thing about upgrading is you can run V7 along side your V6 without interfering. So you can still upload/download amend catalog in V6 whilst your upgrading to V7.

What I would do is install V7 and select "Upgrade Existing V6" in the wizard. After all the files have been installed the Site Upgrader will attempt to upgrade your V6 templates. When the Site Upgrader program opens look for the light bulb icon. Click it, select "Yes" to upgrade then File | Exit | Yes - to save changes.

Open V7 and select Web | Switch to Test Mode. This will allow you to upload to a test folder on your server so you can view your site.

Have a thorough check and see if everything looks ok.

If you got any customisation problems comment to this thread and I'll be happy to take a look.

Also please read the upgrade guide:

What I have noticed is that when upgrading a coupon bity of code implants itself into the template... Happy to take your site put into into v7 (developer) and tell you if the changes look drastic or easy..Depends on the bespoking.
