    Uploading site Pipex problem

    Hi

Absolute beginner to Actinic v7!! I'm trying out the 30 trial.

I'm having trouble uploading to my website held with Pipex.net

When it gets to the perl path I have /usr/bin/perl and for the extension I have .pl but then I cannot continue due to an error about "the perl script extension is incorrect. Try another extension......." (I have found this page : http://www.hosting-support.pipex.net/view.cgi?id=159 which gives some indications)

    Can anyone help?

Have you tried the wizard to see if it can resolve your problem with the use current settings and confirm options.

i.e. leave the settings you have applied so far and go into Web | Configure Website details and then ensure that it leaves your current settings as is, but gets you to confirm the details, then go through it and do different settings if the defaults given you do not work.

Also, have you FTP'd into your account with them and created a cgi-bin and acatalog folder, as this might be the problem of the software being unable to create the folders for the remainder of the tests to go through...

      Many thansk for the reply.

If I ftp in I can now see a new folder called acatalog (under /p/appe11/acatalog).

How do I create (and where) a new CGI bin?

What is your public_html area, normally something like /web , /public_html or /www for example, under which your acatalog and cgi-bin should reside.

Are you on Windows or Linux hosting...?

Have you tried Pipex to see what they say, as they obviously have come across it before to have that support page on the subject.

The guys I spoke to didn't have clue about what I was taking about.

As for the public_html area all I can see is /p/appe11/acatalog. I'm guessing it's appe11 which is my address as well.

Another question : why can't I see thumbnail images in the preview?

Well, dunno to be honest as obviously we dont use them or have customers with them, but if you think that the appe11 is the public area, then create a cgi-bin inside that area and then try it, but have to be honest and say that without knowing for sure where the public_html area is, then it is hit n miss with getting the network settings correct quickly.

Where are you expecting thumbnail images to appear. In v7 i believe they are for use in the search results.
