Back to Top button problem??

On all my product pages I have added a simple up arrow at the end of each product separator line which has always worked just fine. Today I have encountered a problem that I'm having great difficulty with.
When our my website receives a visitor via the Referrer Perl Script this "Back to top" link sends them away from the page they have entered and back to the first catalog page ie, http://www.madaboutjewellery.com/acatalog/#top.
This is rather disconcerting and may be putting the visitor off. can anyone suggest a solution??

Use image HTML of the following form (taken from the 'Curves' theme)

Thanks for the tip. Implemented it and yes it does now go to the top of the page visited using the referrer pearl script but as soon as it gets there it returns to the top of the home page (first cataloge page)?? Mystery!!! I'll continue to persue a solution. If you come up with any other ideas, they'd be gratefully received.
