Actinic v10 Beta

We are delighted to announce the release of the Beta test version of Actinic v10, which is available to download now from www.actinic.co.uk/about/Beta.php4

v10 includes a number of new features that have been frequently requested by users. Full details are in the downloadable Beta testers guide, which also includes a variety of suggested testing scenarios.

NB. v10 also fixes about 30 bugs that were still outstanding from version 9. These are listed in the Release Notes that are installed with the software. We will not be able to fix any more v9 bugs in the initial release, but we are committed to continually improving the quality of our software. Outstanding field reported v9 bugs have already been copied to the v10 project. Please do not report them again, as they may distract from the new v10 bug reports for which the forum is intended.

Beta software is of test quality only and should not be used on a live production site or a live EPOS system. Actinic cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage which may result from such use. If during the testing period any serious problems are found, a new version will be issued as soon as possible.

V9 Bugs

Is there a definitive list of v9 bugs that have been brought forward into v10??

If you don't want people to report v9 bugs then we need to know what they are.

Ideally, this could do with some kind of issue management that is accessible to v10 beta testers - it would save a lot of work and duplicated reporting.

Hi Goz,

Get Satisfaction is great for issue management, it very open and allows people to simply click the "Me To" button. Much better than the old days of running things via email.

I'm looking forward to using Get Satisfaction - it should be a gret improvement.

But you haven't answered my question. I don't want to waste my time or your staff's time by reporting v9 bugs unnecessarily.

Sorry, the actual bug record is tied in to our development systems ATM and we're not really able to make it publicly available.

If you find a bug and you're not sure whether it's in v9 or not, please go ahead and report it. We'd just like to keep the amount of duplication to a minimum, to make it easier to track the new stuff.

Is this likely to be pretty close to the finished release? Well, obviously apart from any issues that need repaired or tuned up, any new features that have been added to v10 are all included in this version?

Yes, the only changes before the full release will be fixes to any serious flaws that are new in v10.

We have already done a lot of testing internally and gone through two private Alpha tests, so we hope that the number of changes before the final release will be few.

We expect the beta test to run for around four weeks.
