I'm not the one waiting Ben, it's your customers that are, they just contact me asking what will they need to do, to which all i can say is 'wait and hope, it's still being worked on'.

Thank you for the link though, at least people can spend money on a plugin to update their sites if they're getting nervous, good to see Codepath have this complete and ready for use, it will serve as a great safety net.

Just wondering if the facility will have something inbuilt so all prices can be rounded to a nice figure. ie .95 or .25 etc etc

The instructions for increasing the tax inclusive prices are posted at http://community.actinic.com/showthread.php?t=49003

Please read the instructions carefully, taking note that if you run the sqls more than once, then the prices will increase again. Also make sure you take a snapshot before starting.

The Codepath plugin doesn't appear to be of use if you have many vatable and non vatable products in the same sections.

@Owen, we are currently making a change to the plug-in that will allow you to change only VATable items within the catalog

@Jo, there are numerous rounding options; up/down/nearest to 5p, 9p, 10p, 50p and 99p.

There are now a couple of new features added.

1) VAT Helper. Just enter the old and new rates and the exact uplift percentage is calculated for you to 5 decimal places.

2) Selective Tax Types. Choose to only update products which are assigned a specific tax band.

I have just tested the Codepath plugin and it works perfectly. Not only does it update the Vatable prices but it also ignores any prices without VAT. Definately worth the price of £49. In fact a definite bargain!

I have a site with over 4000 products and to update all the prices will take less than a couple of minutes.

Does it actually change the VAT rate as well, to show as 20%, or does it just update the total purchase price?

Neither the plug-in nor the manual scripts from Actinic affect the actual rate as this is just a few clicks in Actinic Business Settings and so is not worth automating. Changing the rate manually in a Tax Inclusive tax model will have no effect on the final price so this can be done before or after the price update.

My site was upgraded from V9 to V10, so last year I used the SQL, the KB article shows the advanced tax screen if you have V10 to be a simple change but my upgraded site looks different...

This looks more like the shot showing older sites, so do I simply change my current 17.5 to 20 or change the 15 to 20 and select that as default?

I am sure many Actinic customers have upgraded sites too..

One more question for Andy - does your plug in get round the problem in v9 whereby unless you run the SQL, any orders you change manually (to delete a product line for example), will have their VAT changed to 20% even if the orders came before Jan 4th?

No, you would need to use the scripts for that. The plug-in is a more feature-rich way of managing your prices than the basic update scripts, allowing product filtering and rounding options, but does not address changes to the tax status of historic orders.

If you change the vat in business settings will it not change existing vat in older orders, it used to?
