As you are no doubt aware, Actinic has the most sophisticated integration with Sage Line 50 at this end of the market. Actinic don’t charge explicitly for Sage Link, but it only works with Actinic Business and above.
We have found in recent years that the annual changes made by Sage have required significant additional work from Actinic, and demand for this work to be done quickly has significantly risen. Because Sage Link hasn’t been explicitly charged for and doesn’t have its own license key, Actinic do not even know how many people use the Sage Link.
As a result, we are changing our policy with Sage Link as follows:
- The latest version of Sage Link (compatible with Sage 2012) will require a license key.
- It will be provided when customers purchase Business or above. However, customers will need to explicitly request the Sage Link license key in order to receive it.
- Customers on Actinic Business Cover or above will receive a free upgrade key for Sage Link after registering a request.
- Customers who use previous versions of Sage Link can stay on that version for as long as they like free of charge.
- Customers who wish to upgrade to the latest version of Sage Link and are not on Cover can either purchase Cover and receive a free upgrade, or can purchase a Sage Link 2012 upgrade for a one-off fee of £99 + VAT.
This change seems fair, as Actinic have to do work that is initiated by Sage, Sage charge Actinic annually to integrate, yet in some cases customers are paying Sage for an upgrade but nothing to Actinic.
Incidentally, the new version of Sage Link, compatible with Sage 2012 will be released at the latest by 24 October 2011, will require a license key, and will work with MS SQL (Enterprise) based Actinic sites as well as standard Access based ones.
We will post instructions on how to obtain keys in the next few days on this thread.
Regards,
Chris
