Nav bar conflict

Please help
Currently: Would like to be:

I have set my catalog page as the home page because I want image links to product sections immediately.

I also want some information pages (that brochure pages were intended for).

The horizontal nav bar in the catalog pages is different to the one in the brochure sections i.e. there are no links to the brochure pages from the catalog pages. I think I am right in saying this?

I have found a way of adding a link to a brochure page (e.g. About Us) from the catalog page by inserting a brochure page text link layout within the Horizontal Nav bar Text Links layout on the catalog page.

The problems with this are:
1. When you leave the catalog page, you loose site of it unless the brochure page is opened in a new window. Not ideal.

2. If you click 'Home' on the brochure page, it takes you to the brochure Home Page (index.html) and not back to the catalog top page. This is obviously due to the diff. Nav bar layouts.

Cannot see the wood for the trees. Any suggestions please?

Create your own navigation bar(s) instead of using the actinic offerings, especially when you want to do something which strays from the norm. People spend too much time trying to work with the actinic offerings, forget that, just create your own.

Thanks for replying Lee. Are there any guides anywhere that you know of, to what you suggested?

Well you could do with html and css experience, if you don't have that then it's probably best to muscle on with the actinic offering. It's an area they need to improve, so many people get stuck on this area.

I'm learning slowly..... thru online tutorials etc. I will give it a go. So, thre's nothing that you kow of in the AUG?

Not that i know of Keith no, i have only ever created my own cos it's just too problematic otherwise IMO, so i won't be the best guy to ask on it.
