Brochure page fragment columns

Hello all,

I want to layout a brochure page with say:

Fragment 1 the full width of the page (one column)
Fragment 2 & 3 in two columns under fragment one
Fragment 4 & 5 in two columns under fragments 2 & 3
etc

The fragment column count is currently set at the brochure page level. I cannot work out how to apply different column counts to different fragments on the same page.
