Coupon Code requesting data?

I have a site up and online, not populated yet but awaiting it that I have used Actinic for with a customised look and feel. I haven't changed the 'integral code' too much but am now getting the following problem:-
When progressing from Checkout 1 (i.e. where the user puts in address details, where there is an option to enter the 'coupon' details) the user adds address, ticks the Terms and Conditions box and then clicks next but allways gets the error message:-

"The coupon code ( ) was not recognised, please check and re-enter."

I have no discounts set up here and aside from minor aesthetic changes haven't changed anything specifically to do with this input field. I have tried a few things such as reset the code to it's original code (in Order01BukArea) but that doesn't work and am now just plainly confused. Any help I would be extremely grateful for.

OK, Hope no one has spent anytime reading this but I have just re-iploaded and the error seems to have vanished.... which means it is now working ok....

It is showing "Coupon code" in the coupon field. Also, when going to checkout it doesn't say that isn't a valid coupon code.

Yeah - I noticed this - after having the problem I re(re)pasted the 'original' code from the original layout and re(re)uploaded. I noticed the 'Coupon Code' field in the value but assumed that it was generic... and seeing that it then worked I thought I'd leave it as it is. Unfortunately I've emailed the snapshot over to the client now to continue populating so shan't make any changes as you suggest for the moment as it will disrupt their process.
