Have you built it in Dreamweaver and used the integration with Actinic? Or do you mean you are stuck on how to produce your template from the PSD file for actinic. But you say you have the css file, little confusing, can you clarify?

      Hi Lee,

design was done in Photoshop and sliced up. Had a guy do his magic to create a template for Actinic to use throughout but rather than just a theme to go thru the entire site I got a zip file containing an index.html, a CSS file and a file named .DS_Store

What I want is to be able to drop my design into Designer and create a whole site with that look. Be happy to send you the files if you wish to take a peep.

Hi Mark, put the html file and the css file into the site1 folder and then (if you have the DW integration setup) use the actinic menu to insert the placeholders into the design, there are not many on the 'simple' view which should do all you need, it's self explanatory. INNERLAYOUT is the biggie, that controls about 90% of your store.

I certainly wouldn't get involved in the design library yet, use the DW integration until you are more comfortable with actinic, plus its so much easier anyway. The DW integration is the best feature of V8 IMO, you'd be mad to not use it.

Indeed - it is the only sensible way to go about things. If you don't have DW it is worth buying as it will save you hours of needless work with the Actinic plug-in. You will still need to change things once applied.. typically stripping out the mess of CSS Actinic adds to the default layouts as standard

            Yo Markie Mark...

Had a look at your files and will call you after 9am.

Nice looking site and I would get it on the showcase when you have finished.

As an addition to anyone who may read this via the ultra reliable forum search I would reiterate the above points:

1 Create your site in Actinic
2 Design your site (slice dice etc) and when popping into actinic save it to the site folder created above (images et al)
3 Register it from DW into Actinic
4 If using a custom CSS <!-- comment out --> actinic.css (do not remove it, use if for ref if needed)
5 In DW (as lee suggests) pop the basic Actinic content into your layout
6 Tweak, add, takeway inline in actinic
7 Snapshot to a safe location (when you are happy) and publish to test/live
8 Order that 42" HDTV and Yacht (you never know)

            HTH Someone.
            Regards

Can I just thank Darren from LOS Design for his fantastic and clear guidance to help resolve my problem on ACTINIC.

I recently paid a hell of a lot of money and went on the " Web Design with Actinic V8 " Course which in my opinion was a complete waste of my money and time. It was basically reading and doing things from notes in a book and hardly touched at all on actually designing a website and inserting ACTINIC as the course was labelled. If I'd have been a bit quicker, I'd have asked for my money back. ( and yes, I did point this out whilst I was there and have also since to Chris Dicken)

Darren, showed and taught me more in 50 minutes than I took in on that entire ACTINIC course.

I notice that Darren will be running some training courses soon, and if the support and teaching I have had this morning is anything to go by then I cannot recommend him highly enough.

Thank you again Darren 10 /10 mate! ( no I'm not on commission either)

Darren, your 'design a webite' link doesn't work in your signature. It looks as if your server can't cope with the capital D in the link with the filename having a small d.

                  Mike

PS. I would have PM'ed you on this but you don't seem to have it enabled.

                    Hi Mike

capitals removed but in theory, I cannot see why that should impact

Never mind, stepped back and played the safe card. All lower case, thanks for the heads up.

Unix/Linux/FreeBSD based hosting is case-sensitive... if the filename is gOOd.html, it'll 404 when you try good.html etc.

                      eg: http://www.thermochill.com/sketchup/...illpa1203l.jpg vs http://www.thermochill.com/sketchup/...illPA1203L.jpg
