I'm not getting involved in the current 'discussion' but just want to mention that this forum is a community forum where questions and answers are posted by the community and although Actinic support do answer many questions it is not part of subscriber support as such. You won't be able to 'expect' Actinic support to answer any questions here.

Subscriber support is primarily for telephone and email support. The community forum is a great resource as is the Advanced User Guide and the Knowledge Base.

Per your original question: Page 16 and 17 of the AUG refer to using js doc writes as a work around for conditional browser comments.

And for anyone else new to the forum they should read this before posting http://community.actinic.com/showthread.php?t=25620 - it is posted by the mods NOT me.

As Duncan says this forum is NOT actinic support - if you want to make use of your support contract then please do as the mods say:

Finally, don't forget that this forum is designed for Actinc users to help each other, and the vast majority of forum users are giving their time voluntarily to help out. If you want support directly from Actinic then register an email support query at http://www.actinic.co.uk/support/register.htm

Great points raised there! but for me they didn't really help:

I visited the main page of the forums: http://community.actinic.com/index.php and before being logged in you get a little section above the forum which presented me with: "Actinic Community Guidelines." which is above ALL FORUMS i read this which has the content below:

        Actinic Community Rules
The aim of the community is to provide a friendly and useful forum for active users of Actinic products. From experience, these guidelines will help to achieve that aim.

        * The community is designed for commenting on, or raising: issues, questions, bugs, and suggested changes to Actinic products; and information or questions about running an online business.

        * The community is designed primarily for Actinic users to help each other. If a thread receives no responses within two working days, then a member of the Actinic support team will take a look at the question.

        * No explicitly commercial postings promoting products or services are allowed. Requests for services and quotations from other list members can be made but should be answered by email off line. No threats, general rudeness or slander of people, products or companies should be posted.

        * You must provide true information about yourself in your registration.

        * Actinic will occasionally post notices or commercial postings in connection with Actinic products.

        * Please do not post a question multiple times. It is unnecessary and makes it more confusing for people searching the forum. Duplicate questions may be removed by the moderators.
After reading this information i went back to the main forum pages and under separate forum is "v8 - HTML & CSS Customisation" which is the correct category for my problem, i went into this category and searched for:

        separate css files
        conditional if statements
        browser if statements

        All with no relevant results.

So what did i do wrong in my post?

Well to start with I could of gone into "V8 - General" were i would of seen the "Sticky" link for " NEW USERS - Please Read This First" which then I would of read the AUG and not had to create such a problem for other users of the forums, but as HTML and CSS was the forum at the top and the most relevant that’s what I chose, and also if the HTML and CSS category had a “NEW USERS – Please Read” post I would of read it, but it doesn’t!

Actinic provide the forum software and confirm moderation, they also confirm to address topics after 48 hours if help is required, they also promote the forum as a medium of getting help from other members, I have committed no crime.

Just because someone has a <10 post count should not make them a “easy target” for the “wanna-be” moderator of the forum to un-necessarily attack.

        Here is some suggestions:

The top of every forum should have the required “Sticky” topics

All members with posts less than 100 should have to start the post with a list of search terms they tried to find their answer with so that RuralWeb does not get upset and “presume” you had not searched.

But as I am sure the last thing actinic want to see on “Their” forum is a load of Smack Talk so I am going to leave this thread here.

Feel free to reply as much as you want and just refer to my signature for you replies.

        Happy New Year!

            Some nice looking sites Rob.

I would be inclined to replace the default "add to cart" button for your own image more in keeping with the sites - not an issue just that I am so used to seeing the Actinic cart buttons they lept from the page (my jaded eyes).

              Hi Rob,

There are some nice sites there.

The Ab sports site has some kind of problem with some of the navigation links. Some of the errea and jako links don't seem to go anywhere.

              example: http://www.absportssupplies.co.uk/ac...rrea-bags.html

I tried to PM you on this but it looks like you have it turned off.

Thanks for the feedback guys, ive updated the delivery details and links, i was actually waiting on client for info and the products for those sections, technically AB Sports aint live yet as such (no real current visitors as of yet we have not started any SEO work on it)

I know what you are saying about the add to cart buttons i personally hadnt thought they looked to out of place with colour styling but maybe your right and they need changing.

Again thanks for the heads up.

                  Rob

I agree with olderscot that you have some nice sites there Rob, your obviously a designer only up to their toe nails in the deep and murky waters of Actinic

The only thing i'm not sure about is the navigation on the kaddykid.co.uk site and that the mouse pointer doesn't change to indicate the active link but other than that all very nice.
