Product section list with 3 columns instead of just 1

In my store I have the product section list set out in 3 columns as shown here:http://www.thatscraftyonline.com/acatalog/index.html

In V7 I did this by Design | Options | Sections with the Default location and arrangement of section lists First row count=3 and subsequent row count=3.

I would like to have the same in my V8 store but cannot find a way to do it.

I have done the usual search and looked at the AUG (as I do before I post any question these days) so can anyone help,

On the Section look at the Layout Tab and change the Section to 'Column Count For First Row Of Sections' as well as 'Column Count For Sections' both to 3.

Oh man, I looked there but didn't think I could change that. The last time I changed something without knowing what it did I screwed everything up and had to reinstall the V8

Thanks for your patience in dealing with my questions - I guess it must get pretty frustrating with people asking before they search (I always search before asking but sometimes its difficult to know what to put in the search box)
