    Top Horizontal Nav Bar modification

Whilst re-ordering the Top Horizontal Nav Bar in V8.5.2 Business I have deleted the "catalogue" and the "site map” menu options by mistake.. Doh!

Can anyone tell me how to recover the code without having to re-import the site snapshot (because i forgot to save it after major changes!).

If all else fails can anyone tell me what the code should look like and I will edit it in.

    Many thanks in advance

The "easiest" solution is to open the layout in the library and right click to compare with the factory default.. .this will highlight changes to the code including what is missing from your hacked layout.

      Sorted!

Thanks Jont, you have pointed out a new function I had not seen before in V8. My hacking was in the library so I could not resort for the library, but thanks for your assistance.

After thinking about it overnight, I snapshoted my current edit, reverted to my first snapshop that was taken from V8 (originally imported from V7) copied the original default menu code. I then imported my latest edit and dropped the code on top of the damaged code and it all works well.

Note to anyone changing the "Main Menu" in V8 in the layout code of the content page, edit the "Main Menu" section in Content page rather than click on the buttons you want to edit.

      1) Click on basic editing mode
      2) Click on "Store top CSS Button" to move (This is the catalogue button, I moved mine so it was the second position from the left, for user convenience)
      3) Switch to advanced editing mode
      4) Ctrl X to cut the code
      5) Click on basic editing mode
      6) Position cursor to between the CSS buttons you want to move the Catalogue button to
      7) Switch to advanced editing mode
      8) Ctrl v to paste the code in, and then press apply.

You can move any of the main menu positions like this, but keep away from the block conditions in the middle of the code. Suggest you snapshot your code before you try editing, so you don’t get caught out like me!

        Better yet

NEVER alter the existing layouts in the Library. ALWAYS select New Layout then Based On 'the one you want to alter'.
