checking files/snapshotting just got reeeeeeeeeeally slow!

At a guess it's probably because you are using EntireSectionList on every page. We had the same problem with our custom navigation and ended up binning it because of this, have a read of this thread:-

Oh and as far as I know, there is sod all you can do to speed it up!

there certainly doesn't seem to be a solution for it.
May have to go back to hardcoding it instead

I don't think there is, unfortunately it's not actually a bug, we are just trying to use the variable in ways it was never designed to be used. Pain in the ass though, it is so useful!

I use that variable on every page and see no speed issues, am i missing the point here? Do you restrict it to only the levels you want to show? Is that what you are missing maybe?

yes, I suppose so.

if both lists weren't being used, I could have used one of them actually..

I'm not even sure if restricting it by specific sections will make a difference..I'm going to experiment a bit

It may depend on how you use it and with what other variables. It's much worse if you have 1 product per section for instance.

I disagree, it shouldn't be scanning that low in the structure anyway surely? why is it going that deep? I must be missing the point here. I have one site runs 3 instances of this list on each page and still does not struggle. I think you guys need to limit it running to only the section levels it needs to use. Unless i'm off on a tangent of course.

Using it, limiting it to section level and also reading a variable to find in which list the link belongs.

This is the site with 3 instances of it and a variable deciding in which of the three lists the link should go in.

In that case I'm clueles (again). Perhaps CD will be able to offer more input or Norman if he is around. It must have something to do with either the variable it is used with or the number of sections on the site.
