    One product per product page

    Hi

Apols if this is covered elsewhere, but I'm in a big hurry.

My client wants one product per product page in a 300 or 400 product site.

Prior to the one product product page, they want a simplified product list, such as:

Product Image Product Name More Info
    Product Description
    ----------------------------------------------------
Product Image Product Name More Info
    Product Description
    ----------------------------------------------------

More info would link through to the single product page.

Any ideas how best to achieve this?

    Cheers

there are two ways of doing this in the AUG (Advanced User Guide) which can be downloaded from here - http://www.actinic.co.uk/support/downloads.htm

Personally i would go with Method 2 and that allows for the listing page to also display an Add To Cart button, Price or anything you require relevent to the product and if you are starting from scratch do a flat file import which will create the sections and products for you and a quick search of the forums will give you a solution to the importing single products per page and creating the sections.

Thanks guys. Method 2 in the Advanced Users Guide sorted it.

For anyone needing to do this it's very simple and can be found in the AUG on page 24 titled:

'Creating a Listing Page which Links Through to Full Details Pages – Method 2'

          Mucho gracias

Works well, have you tried a 2 column wide for the section list? I just thought it would make the page shorter and compact with less white space.

I also noticed this page http://www.competitiveheatingsupplie...or_valves.html using a different product layout they didn't stretch accross the page the same way they do on your example link

              Hi Guys

I thought everything was going fine but I've hit another hitch.

Basically, my client wants 2 ways for users to be able to find products; by Brand and by category.

I have input method 2 above in the brands section (where my client will upload all his products to) and all is fine.

However, the category sections are pulling in the generic graphic from the previous sub-section instead of the product graphic in the list.

              See the brand list here:
              http://www.appuru.co.uk/acatalog/trilogy-body-care.html
              And the category list here:
              http://www.appuru.co.uk/acatalog/cleansers.html

Any help greatly appreciated. I'm bound to have some setting muddled somewhere.

              Cheers

I think if i understand the problem you want the sub section (which is actually just a single product) to show the product image and not the section image?

If so i simply use a thumbnail for the section image, basically I create a 100x100 thumbnail for each product and use it for the section image. If you are doing the file import you can also easily set the mapping to use the product thumbnail as the section image.

I have seen that there is a php mod that will create the thumbnail for you but i don't have a link to hand but it's in the forum somewhere.

                    Hi Ginny

                    Thanks for the reply.

What I would like is for the products here:

                    http://www.appuru.co.uk/acatalog/cleansers.html

To look like the products here:

                    http://www.appuru.co.uk/acatalog/trilogy-face-care.html

After applying method 2 above to both sections, one does not pull in the product image. Instead it pulls in the section image?

                    Any ideas?

Shut down actinic and then restart it. I did have this problem myself a couple of times and it just seemed Actinic had become confussed (which is not hard to do)

Also ensure that the sections are all using the same section layouts (simply click the sub section which look how you want, then the layout tab and note all the settings in the section list and then simply check they are the same on the other sections.

As i recall the problem happens when you have a sub section within a sub section but by checking the layout section settings are correct and then shutting down Actinic and Restarting resolved it for me.

                        Hi Ginny

The shutting down hasn't worked. The method 2 section list when apllied to here:

                        http://www.appuru.co.uk/acatalog/cleansers.html

is still bringing in the default section images from the previous section

                        whereas all is well here:

                        http://www.appuru.co.uk/acatalog/trilogy-body-care.html

I think it may be to do with the settings in the method2 file update, I'm thinking that some image file information is pulled in from the parent section in this case the apple graphic.

I'm really stuck on this so any helk would be great.

                        Cheers

Actinic has worked like this forever, it's the way it's always been or at least for the last 5 years or so. Define the images you want to show, there can be no inheritance then.

if you dont want an image shown create a single pixel blank image and use that
