add an extra checkout field question

Hi, its Toby again,

I need to add an extra field to the checkout - is this easy to do?

'please enter width of your frame'

I have been looking all over the forum for advice and I have been into 'design - text - web cont. - general fields - or whatever its called...' but still no joy...

You can rename and use on of the two existing fields in the checkout in the General Information section of Checkout Page 2.

so edit 'where did you find our site?' and 'what was your reason for buying?'

+ how do i do that?

ive found that i can right click on it and edit the text in design view - just takes me to the 'design text - general information' section. But changing 'current value' doesnt seem to change the field text.

They can be found in DESIGN | TEXT, you will find a 3rd available definable option, so you do not need to adjust the ones you mention, you just add the new one etc.

i have tried the 3rd option in DESIGN - TEXT but nothing shows up in the checkout.

Go to Design - Text, click on Go To at the bottom LHS - enter Phase 4 ID 0 - you will then see the text you want to change.

Otherwise go to Design View - select Page Type Checkout Page 2, scroll down in the preview window and right click on the text you want to change and select to Edit Text.

Don't forget to check 'Show'.

this is weird - ive tried that - that is what i was doing before: changing the 'current value' in the DESIGN - TEXT - GEN. INFO. section, but nothing seems to change when i look at my checkout page 2 or upload the site.

Provide a screenshot of your setting, or better still just copy how the 2 above are done, there is no reason for it not to work on your site apart from user error, unless youve been messing with the checkout layout, in which case you should revert it back to factory standard and then try.

yes you are right, if i make a new site it works fine - hmmm..... problems problems....
