I'm confused about how payments would be handled

Would your client take payment on behalf of their clients/shops and then pass the money on? Or would the expectation be that the payments are made using the client/shops PSP? If the latter, I'd be interested to see how that works.

Or have I misunderstood this concept... which is highly likely

Its the p&p that will be the hardest to sort out - if every shop is avaiable then what happens when a shopper buys a product from each shop. If p&p is calculated on weight then there will not be enough to allow each shop to deliver the product - if p&p is included in the price then they will not be competitive.

I looked at this idea a couple of years ago for a farmers market and branded sections is easy to do and using a plain checkout would also work but it was the delivery that killed it unless every shop offered free delivery. In the site I was designing every poducer had different delivery ideas and it all fell appart.

Look at http://www.localfoodshop.co.uk/vendo...am?partnerid=1 this site does a similar thing to what you are attempting.

My client offers uniforms to various schools so there should be very little cross over between shops. I will post a link to my solution if I get it working
