    Image next title

    Hi,

Is there someone who can explain me from A to Z what and how I have to do to add next the title of a section, a picture , like New! (new.gif) ?

If I understand how to do that, I'm sure that I'll understand a great part of Actinic Design.

    Thank you very much,

    Bruno

It depends on your layout but all you may need to do is go to Content View and click on a Section in the Content Pane, then enter the image file name on the General tab of the Section Details.

I think he's after one of them little yellow stars like we had on a V7 layout, where the 'new' product layout had a little gif next to it to signify a new product. Perhaps he could clarify.

If you want the new.gif to be next to the section title text you need to click on the section and in the title box add the HTML there ... eg:

        My Section !!<<img src="new.gif" alt="new" />>!!

the image new.gif needs to be placed into the root of the site folder. Depending on how Actinic is behaving you may need to also place a copy into PreviewHTML and add to the additional files so it is uploaded to the server.

          Hi,

It's correct, I would like to get a little yellow star like " new" that I find in the new product layout.

It was possible with version Actinic 7, by using variable ShowNewOne (http://shopfr.belgianshop.com ), but I don't know how to do with version Actinic 8.

          Thank you for your help.

The solution is already given by Jont in post 4 above.

Copy how it was done in V7 into V8, it will be an image added just after the title I expect, you should be able to follow the V7 logic onto the V8 section layout. There are better ways, but you need to understand and know how to use blockifs, which i expect you cannot. In V7 you had 2 layouts, both identical apart from the graphic added on one of the layouts. You can have 2 layouts in V8 just the same, it's just not the slickest method of doing it.

If you fancy having a go at the best solution, have a read of the blockif tutorials in the layouts forum, so you understand them first. They will get you pretty close to understanding the concept that you need. You then just have a true false variable at section level which fires the blockif, which in turn shows or does not show the graphic.

Thank you for your reply, but, that is not the solution for me.

At the following website http://shopfr.belgianshop.com, you can see the picture "New" next the menu "Downloads". I have done that with the Version Actinic 7. But, I don't know how to do the same with the version Actinic 8.

                  Could you help me?

                  Best Regards,

                  Bruno

For the Version 7, I have used the help of NormanRouxel :
                    http://community.actinic.com/showthr...7491#post67491 .

But with the Version 8, I cann't do like that.

                    Best Regards,

Follow post 4 from Jont, i was referring to sub section layouts in the centre of the page, you are wanting it on the department navigation. At least have a go at trying that and let us know what is not working when you do try that method. We all think it will work, yet you don't, but you are the one asking us for help.

Do yourself a massive favour and stop using the yahoo menu, it's not very good for SEO.

I'm sorry, I don't understand what you mean with "Do yourself a massive favour and stop using the yahoo menu, it's bloody awful for SEO " (I have also to tell you that my English is not very good).

The current javascript menu you have forms the section links in probably the worst way it could nowadays (through the cgi-bin). This is not the best for SEO and you would be strongly advised to use another method. I'd suggest that using the top level section list would be better, but you are going to need to get stuck in to actinic and change some things. You could also change themes, which does this for you as i think Smart theme is one of the only themes that use this method.

It looks as though the menu does not let you add html, perhaps conflicting in some way as the html looks fine. Maybe the Javascript needs to be adjusted instead as you did with V7. That i'm afraid is out of my remit.

Your image looks like you are using Collapso, have you added this?
