Logo/Header Layout

Hi, I have been searching the forums for some help with a couple of problems I have with the logo header on our site www.demon-pressure-washers.co.uk

Firstly you will see that the main logo doesn't sit properly at the top of the page and encroaches on the top menu bar. Does anyone know how I can adjust this?

Secondly I want to remove the red bars and greeny/bluey strip to the left and right of the logo so it is just white but haven't found the correct way to get rid of them. Does anyone know?

I've looked at your site and can see that you've managed to sort the issues out (unless i'm blind ), if you have can you let us know how you did it as it will help other users.
