Product Pages resize/jump to larger resolution that Home page?

Sorry if this is a faq, have searched around.

If I start a brand new site, everything from scratch and preview in a browser using say 'executive template' then click onto a product say ' books' the screen kind of jumps and resizes to a smaller resolution. If you click back to homepage it resizes back to a larger resolution...which is annoying and seems to be the case with other templates, how do we get round this? Ta.

We need on online example to understand exactly what you mean however is it because the browser scrollbar is on some pages and not others.
