There is a lot of stuff coming from a number of places. Unfortunately there is no definitive guide - just experience. I tend for the brutal approach and coding things directly into the layouts and doing away with the Actinic variables as these keeps everything in the stylesheet ... one place to look for design changes.

Actinic is like a pair of leather shoes ... a nightmare to live with at first but you soon get comfortable and you would not live with anything else.

Regular back-ups and lots of messing around combined with the forum and the knowledge base.

My shoes almost wear out sometimes and I also like to use inner soles, I also use dubbin to protect against the elements but they are comfy.

Arrrrrgh. Getting there slowly, but I think it would probably be less painful to pull my teeth out one at a time.

How do I get the brochure links in the left column to look like the ones in the centre...?

            http://www.planet-x-warehouse.co.uk/...log/index.html

ie get rid of the dopey pink square icons and arrows and just use a simple grey bullet point.

I recommend you use Firefox and the Firebug add-in. You can then Inspect the live page and see what styling is applied to each element and even change it on the fly for testing.

Nice analogy Duncan. Actinic seems to wear out sometimes, so I like to use backups. I also need to use software to backup the entire Actinic folder, for days when the 'elements' come 'raining' down

OK. I've got Firebug installed and working. I've found (I think) that the bit of code I need to edit is in class "page_body_content_left_column".

Excuse me if I'm missing something obvious, but how do I find that code and edit it for real (ie rather than just in Firebug)? I've played about with it and can at least get it looking something like I want it in there, but still no clue as two the general workings of designer. Or are you saying scrap using designer and just go and edit files directly?

Open up the actinic stylesheet, it is in there. Select the design tab to find the stylesheet.
