https & http pagelayout problem:

Hi all...
I have recently purchased and added an SSL cert to my site, The site is not live and operating yet as we are still working on products and the layout/functions, The problem I have is this: I created a separate page layout for the checkout pages as the main layout has flash files in that caused an error saying “Page contains unsecured items” using a different template for the checkout pages and only having https: on the checkout stage fixes this but if you continue to look around the site after hitting any of the https: checkout pages the site takes you back to say https://pagename instead of http://pagename and I get the non secure error again on every page, Is there a way to avoid this or would I be better of not using any flash animation all together?

i went from http to https to http correctly for all the pages i tested

Yer, Seems to be fine now, Not sure if I fixed it without knowing so or if I was doing something stupid the first time I found the error,
