where do template files reside

I have just started to use Actinic V9 Designer. Previously I used version 7. I want to manually edit some of the templates eg. Act_Primary and actinic.css using my prefered text editor. But I can't find where they are!

In the past they were in a folder called "site1" which was in "program files > actinic > sites > site1" now I can't find them.

Any clues on where I can find the master templates?

They now reside in the database and are managed in the Design view in Actinic.
V8/9 is a completely different beast.

In some cases yes, but after you get used to it you may find it far better.

yes indeed.... as duncan says v8 and 9 are a completely different beast.

Bring back v7!

I have just imported a snapshot from a V7 site I had made many template changes. Quite naturally it doesn't work correct in V9.

In the past I would have used a file comparison program to compare the V7 "site1" folder with the new "site 1" folder. From that I could see which files had changed, then do a line by line comparison to see exactly what the changes were and decide how to handle them (oh before anyone points it out to me, I know actinic had a tool to do this, but I didn't like that).

Looks like I can't do that anymore, not impressed!

I don't think I will be bothered. I have already developed my own Ms Access based e-commerce system because I was not happy at the lack of standards compliance of Actinic. Most of my customers have moved across to this, but one has been holding onto Actinic and wanted me to upgrade their V7 site to V9. I am thinking I will work harder to convince them to switch to my system. As an aside, I found it easier to develop my own system from scratch than understand Actinic V9.

If version 9 had of put right some of the issued that matter to me like standards compliance and no dependance on JavaScript it may have been worth the agro, but as it is I think not.
