Creating new pages without appearing in side/top nav

    Hi,

I would like to create new brochure pages but without listing in any navigation. For instance on one of my pages i would like to say to View Recent event photos here.... And by click here it would take the user to the new page with all my images. I'm not sure what the code would be and where i would imbed the code and create the new page from.

I have searched through hundreds of threads and can't seem to find the answer ...

If anyone could point me in the right direction i would be grateful.

    Many Thanks

    Sarah

    Welcome to the community Sarah.

This has been covered a few times, but things can be missed if you're not sure what terms to search for.

It's actually documented in the knowledge base too (top right hand corner), which is worth a look if a search doesnt through anything up.

          Ermmm ....
These instructions are great but my new page is still appearing in the normal navigation, admittedly not the side nav but still the top navigation of my site and i dont want it too

I just want to create an extra page that has a link to it from one other page and thats it.

I'm pretty sure that i would need some hard code also to enter into the originating page i.e href= new page link etc.

Sorry, as you can see i am no developer and new to this game!!

          Thank you in advance

          Sarah

Sounds like you might have another dynamic navigation menu at the top, I don't know how your layout is coded. But if that's the case you would need to add another "'Insert Block' button" for the top menu as well as the side menu.

Rather than fiddling with HTML code, it's easiest to add another fragment onto the page (right click > new fragment) and use the "Links" tab to add the link.

There are several designers who post here, if you want to contact someone click on the name and there is an option to send email and other options. Or for a local designer if you want one-to-one help in person see this regional list.

              same issue

I have the exact same issue, created info pages that even with the KB fix still show an empty box in the left nav - frustrating!

Section menus i can accept need to be fully dynamic, but navbars with 5 or 6 links that never change are just better off hand coded where you can add, change or remove things as you wish. It's just not worth the hassle trying to work with the actinic offerings in this area. I've not used a brochure navbar for over 3 years now and never had a problem. Save your time and your souls, scrap the standard and do your own!

Thanks for your advice, i will give it a try, as you are a design partner and seem to know what you are talking about how much would you charge for having a look and creating an additional page that does not appear in navigation etc and a set of instruction on how to replicate this action? I am not a designer and have been well and truly dumped by my not so fabulous web designer and i sometimes struggle with coding and adding blocks.
                  Thanks again

Creating new pages without appearing in side/top nav

Would this involve going through each page on my site and setting the value to show/hide?

If so I have over 1000 pages, so it would take a long time to do this. Is there any other way of doing it which wouldnt involve going through all my pages?

I was thinking there might be a variable that only appears in the product layout and not the section layout. I could then use a block if to see if that variable is on the page. Is there any variables like this?
