How to edit the Look of the Section list?

    Hi everybody.
First post and i must warn you, i'm not at all HTML literate.

I'm building an Actinic store, and so far have found the interface quite easy to get on with and the store is starting to look like a proper website

but, the section list in the left hand column is bugging me, as its just plain black text. Is there a simple way to spruce this up? With buttons, or outlines or just changing the font or something? I did do a breif search but nothing jumped out. Bear in mind, it needs to be EASY. lol

    Any help appreciated

    Cheers

Have a look on drillpine.biz at some addons in the menu area, really cheap and quick to install. If you know little about html and css, don't get involved, it's not worth the time investment. I take it you have tried the various standard options in settings > site options? if not spend a good 30 minutes in there looking at the things you can control and the choices made available as standard.

      Thanks Lee.

Yeah, i've been through the standard options what seems like a million times but can't see anything that seems to relate.

it seems odd that this text, being so important, isn't as easily customisable, as say, brochure pages?

It's like most things Mike, it is really easy when you know how, but a complete mystery when all new to you. If you have all the colours for your design > themes set as you want, then your choices are to either manually adjust the standard list or buy an addon. What are you trying to do in order to make it better?

Firefox and the firebug addon are great to see what styles are being applied to certain areas on your site, you can then find those styles in the stylesheet on the design tab and have a go at changing things. Just snapshot before you try any changes, you'll soon get to grips with the basics if you like getting your hand dirty. Palette1, Palette2 and Palette 3 colours are used extensively in a lot of designs.

thanks Lee. So far as what I'm doing to make it better, the section list sits below the site navigation buttons, and above the brochure buttons, but is just plain black text. No formatting or buttons. It looks "unfinished"

Everything so far has seemed simple enough, so perhaps i should start to dig a bit deeper. Thanks for the Drillpine link too, if i give up...I've seen the answer on there.

          Cheers

            i worked it out

I'm sorry for being so dim.

Click the section name in the page preview window, click code layout tab, double click highlighted section, choose colour, font etc.

            hands dirty

            lol

That's not really how you want to be doing it Mike, that way adds far more code onto the page than is needed. You want to be controlling things like this using CSS, far more efficient and very Google friendly.
