Inserting Actinic Content

Hi all.

I am very new to Actinic and Dreamweaver so please bare with me. So far I have created a design in Photoshop and sliced the images, I then imported the design into Dreamweaver and registered it with Actinic and it is appearing in Actinic however when I insert Actinic content and select INNERLAYOUT the code comes up into my design in dreamweaver yet after saving and switching back to Actinic it's not showing up

Dreamweaver, should only be used to create outer layouts for Actinic. Once you've registered the design with Actinic, you need to add the Actinic layouts and then add content using the Section, Brochure pages and their respective fragments/products.

Does that make sense?

It kinda makes sense. I have changed the design so it's literally just a 'shell' of the design and have registered it with Actinic however I'm not sure on where I need to click in Dreamweaver to insert INNERLAYOUT and other content . . . It seems Actinic is showing my design up but once I have inserted content into it it doesn't show in Actinic despite having the code in front of me in Dreamweaver I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or just missing something obvious?

INNERLAYOUT selector would just be placed where you want the main content of the site to show, on a typical 3 column website, it would live in the central larger column for instance.

Have a study of the standard templates to see it being used. I think you might find that you're overthinking it and expecting something a little more difficult than it is. The INNERLAYOUT selector is a massive part of a design, the amount of content added to a design from that one simple thing really is immense, probably does 90% of what you need to, if not more.

How do I view an Actinic template within dreamweaver to look at it? I think I'm making progress now, I seem to be able to import things into Actinic now, though they are being placed where they want pretty much. Think it has something to do with the tables and how I'm slicing my design and such . . .

There's is a button on the bottom of the Layout Code window in Design that allows you to Edit Layout In Dreamweaver but it's much simpler to just use the preview in Actinic to look at and edit the layout.

Ok I've had a look. Do you know how I should typically slice my design in Photoshop so that I can just import to Dreamweaver and get on with just adding in Actinic content. I'm finding this all bit confusing at the moment, Actinic seems to be very fussy on where I can put stuff

Create your layout in DW from the PS design as you would normally then register the design in Actinic. The Actinic add-in in DW will then add the required special Actinic code snippets into the page. From that point on it is simpler to do all further editting within the Actinic Design views.

Thank you for your reply, I have tried adding my design several times each with different slicing from photoshop and adding the content however when I insert Actinic content it doesn't always insert into the right place on the design and looks odd. Is there a way to rearrange the imported stuff from Actinic or does this have to be done from within Dreamweaver?
