I've rejigged my Brochure display to operate in 3 modes. None (no brochure), inline (brochure links appear horizontally inline with the other top-level Sections) and dropdown.
Note that my one is a 3 level version (like the John Lewis site). Although I see that they have added a limit to the number of third levels displayed. After that limit you get a "View all ..." link. I'll add that capability in as it seems a good idea.
One thing to note is that having such a menu may not be suitable for all existing sites. They work best where the number of Sections, Sub-Sections and 3rd level sections have a nice visual fit. Although the limit to the number of third levels displayed will help a lot if you re-order your sections to put the most popular first.
