    I've not personally seen that managed with html, i've certainly seen it in ASP.net via a combo box. I think i've read about some sort of AJAX implementation too, i think the main issue is the cross browser problems as each browser treats these areas differently. I'd love to see you crack this in actinic, for me its a pipe dream though and not going to happen.

      I haven't read through this whole thread but I seem to remember seeing an add-in by Norman that showed different colours on the different lines of the dropdown combo. If that would help then email him about it.

        So you want a little image in the drop down list next to each option?
        It's possible to have background colours agains each option in a drop-down list. You also have to consider the text colour as the default text may be hard to read against some backgrounds.

        Having an image isn't possible.

          I may have mis-read what you require however would an image "next" to each dropdown that changed not fulfil your requirements?
          e.g. quick/rough example here

                  As usual this is something I have done but got no further to offering it out ;

                  Example of drop down and change of main image http://www.clearancewine.co.uk/test/acatalog/

                  this was a working code test site.

                  Also a component layout with image as part of the radio box

                    Jont,

                    That drop-down is very stylish. Quite a lot of jQuery code though.

                      Cheers Norman.

                      Yes - quite heavy on the JS which is why I stopped as the drop down I planned it for had about 40 options and added a sizeable chunk to the page weight so dropped it.
