    Editing outer page layout

    I'm considering making some changes to my outer page layout so that page content isn't so far down the page.

    The page was originally designed for me (Dreamweaver I assume), so I'm not very clued up here. I have had a look at HTML & CSS books / tutorials & have been holding back on messing about with things, but would now like to get on with it, so a few questions;

    I'm figuring that if I snapshot before tweaking, that I can recover easily if I well & truly break things?

    I have access to Dreamweaver, Is this what I should be using?

    Are base.css & screen.css the right places to look if I want to alter the upper part of my outer page layout?

    Is this wise?

    Any answers much appreciated!

    Use Firefox and install the Firebug add-in and learn how to use it. You will then be able to dynamically explore the page, the html and css and make changes and see the results in real time.
