I did find a post that helped me change the text for the Add Cart button, which was great, but I have another issue connected with it now. I need to know where I can change the width of the button area, as it is cutting off the last two characters and is pushed up against the shopping trolley icon.

It will be a CSS class in the Actinic Stylesheet, either search the stylesheet or highlight the class applied to the cart button in the product layout and right click to find in stylesheet. Or better still download the firebiug addon for the firefox browser and 'inspect' the live code on your site, where it will show you the codes and the styles applied to all areas very simply.
An alternate is to also get rid of the crappy text button, change your site (in site options) to use an image for the add to cart button and put something much better up on screen. -
