Duncan, the fix I outlined seems to work. However, what is the purpose of the <a href="#">?

This creates a dummy page link. Doing it this way satisfies all browsers - doing it your way will not and could cause strange behaviour.

You will see that you end up with three correctly formatted html links, but only one has any text to click on.
