Browser variation - How can I stop it?

    Hello

Just put my new website live www.amberandjade.com

As I was kindly advised years ago on here, I have tried using padding rather than margins.

However I have a lot of browser variation:
    - My desktop: Safari/IE ok, Firefox terrible the entire screen has shrunk in the middle
    - My laptop: Firefox/Chrome ok, IE terrible the entire screen has shrunk in the middle

Does anyone know why so much variation?

I wouldn't expect anyone to spend long on this (unless you want!) - if it is complicated have you got a link to a good article instead that I could read and then make changes?

    Thanks so much,
From a loving Actinic customer who is a bit frustrated with her code right now!

    It may depend on:
    1) Which operating system are you using on the desktop and laptop? (Windows / type or Mac etc)
    2) Which browser version are you running? (on a browser see Help menu > About)
    3) Could you post a screenshot of the issue? (print screen button on keyboard > paste as image)

      Hi Peblaco

Thanks so much for getting back to me.

      In answer to yoru q's:
      1) Which operating system are you using on the desktop and laptop? (Windows / type or Mac etc)
      Desktop - Windows Vista
      Laptop - Windows 7

      2) Which browser version are you running? (on a browser see Help menu > About)
      Desktop - IE 9.1 = perfect
Desktop - Firefox 15.0.1 = screen shrunk to about 75% of what it should be (was ok in 'test' mode)
      Desktop - Safari 5.1.7 = perfect
      Laptop - Chrome = perfect
Laptop - IE 9.0 = screen shurnk to about 75% of what it should be
      Laptop - Firefox 12.0 = perfect
      Mac Ipad = perfect

So the 2 problems are desktop firefox + laptop IE.

I have tried adjusting all Actinic screen width settings, headers, wrappers and prime-containers to 960.

      3) Could you post a screenshot of the issue? (print screen button on keyboard > paste as image)
      Sure, pls see 6 attachments.

I almost always use my desktop firefox and never had anything like this or shrinking before.

Am stuck so any comments welcome.
      Thanks so much.

It could be a sizing setting on the browser. Check the browsers View menu > Zoom is set to 100% or Reset.

          Hi there

Thanks for getting back to me.

Shrinking does seem odd! All other websites I have ever designed or used they are 100% yet only this one has variation. I have tested on all my friends computers as well - so far just mine shrunk so I see why you suggest perhaps browser variation.

Just tried menu > Zoom In and it is now much bigger the size it should be.

So thanks - will monitor over some more browsers and computers and see.

          Catherine
