Change theme

So I am on just a basic theme layout and wanted to change the theme for my website
Is it as easy as just clicking the different theme name and apply ?
Do i need to save a snapshot ?

Definitely take a snapshot before doing anything major - but otherwise yes you can just hit to change themes. If you have made any layout changes to say the products or section layout for your current theme these will stay in the new theme BUT they may break the design depending on what you have done.

Otherwise it should be straightforward with the backup as a fall back safeguard
