deleting unused brand/manufacturers from a list

Hi, I have successfully managed to add a filter for searching by brand on my site but have a number of brands that no longer have products against them so they need to be deleted. How do I do this to make the list on the website more manageable?

Alternative idea

Hello Miriam. I believe that you can opt to have products that are not in stock not show in the filter section. We have a Brands section populated by a filter, and it seems to work fine with the brands not showing when none of their products are in stock. This may be easier than deleting a brand, and has the advantage that you may have that brand stocked again at a later date.
