Modal form linking to opening page

I recall seeing this before but unable to find.

I need to create a modal window with a simple form asking for a password - if correct it redirects the opening parent window to a specific page and closes the modal.

I can use a simple PHP form for the modal but need it to post back to the opening parent window.

Any ideas welcome or a link to the original would be helpful if anyone can find it. Ta x
