PayPal Pro account, run without SSL

Hi

A client has signed up for PayPal Website Payments Pro, and I have just reallised that you need SSL to use the PayPal Website Payments Pro payment method in Actinic.

Am I OK to use the PayPal Website Payments [not Pro] method in Actinic with the clients PayPal Website Payments Pro config details? I realise that I will not have the Direct Payment option if I do this.

To use PP Pro you must have SSL (either your own or actinic shared)

PP Pro works from your website hence the requirement for SSL

Normal PP goes to PP secure servers hence you do not require SSL.

Yes, I was wondering whether I can use the Actinic method 'PayPal Website Payments' instead of 'PayPal Website Payments Pro' - even though the account is a Pro account - in order that I can avoid using SSL. I realise that this would not give me the 'Direct Payment' option, but was hoping I would be able to do this and use the 'Express Checkout' (card details on PayPal site) only.

Try it and find out is your best bet, set up some cheap products and test it.
