Protx in test mode on a live site

I'm about to add Protx to my site, and the first step is to run it in test mode, but as I understand it, although Protx will be in test mode, my Actinic shop will still show it as an option for my customers while I'm testing it out.

Protx say allow 24 hours for them to change it to a live site, after you have finished testing, so this is a significant amount of time that people will see it.

What happens if customers try to choose Protx during this testing phase?

    Clarification would be much appreciated!

Change the name of the payment type to PSP TESTING ONLY. Anyone who chooses it as an option can't get too upset if you have to call them later and retake their payment details.

Make sure it is at bottom of the list, and as Mike says, change it to something discreet in the "web Site Description" field.
      e.g.
"-------------" instead of "PROTX", or "TEST {something}" in case someone selects it!

          Hi Jane,

Just thought you might like to know that if you work with Protx, and do the testing in the order that they say then it is turned around by them extremely quickly. I have been putting off protx integration for a few days having read all the hassles it can cause on here, finally got stuck into it today and must say that from sending the go live email to having it all live was about 30 minutes, the testing stage was as quick also and it was all wrapped up this afternnon in a very painless manner

          HTH

            Well said Lloyd

I can also confirm that once you have actioned your refunds as per the process in testing and send the golive message, you can expect a sub 1hr turnaround during office hours.

We've just registered with Protx, so have all this testing to look forward to!

Would it be possible to limit Protx to account users during testing? We don't have any user accounts except for one 'test' account, so if this would work our customers should't have the option to use Protx as a payment option during testing, but we would through our test account

I believe the answer is no, but have a look at posts #2 and #3, above, for ideas on how to limit confusion. Regular credit cards will not be processed by the test system.

Testing doesn't take long and you will be live very soon. As a final check, put a purchase through the live system using your own credit card. You can refund yourself afterwards.

testing can take a while if things don't go according to plan.

When you set up the payment providers through Business settings there's a field called ' Web Site Description' - I put this as "Testing New Payment Method" or something similar and had no problem with customers trying to use it.

Hope all goes smoothly and quickly for you.

When testing use the advice above, when you have finished testing and want to set it to live you can hide it online by removing the tick from the website column under the business | payment & security area.

Or tick the limit to defind customers, then setup an account for yourself and assign this payment method. Ticking this box will exclude it from normal customers

                      Actinic Express and Protx

I'm trying to set up my Actinic Express shop with Protx. In payment settings there is no option to put in my encryption password. Where do I find it?

                          Hi Islay,

This should really have been posted in the Express forum as you are more likely to get help from other Express users there. Anyway, go to 'Business Settings | Payment Settings' in your Express Control Panel and click the 'Configure' button next to 'Protx' to enter your details.

Tracey is it possible for Actinic to rename the configure button to something a bit more obvious and apt? I'm thinking something like 'Pomegranet' or 'Lamb Stew'.
