    Payapal Express postage problem

I'm using Paypal Payments Pro on my website, with Paypal Express Checkout. The problem is that because Express Checkout takes the customer to Paypal before postage options are chosen they end up paying nothing for postage.

I referred this question to Paypal who just said 'ask Actinic'.

I have tried setting up some Paypal postage parameters in 'Profiles' but no charge still comes through.

My postage options are all set up in Actinic and they work fine for all payment options - apart from Paypal Express.

Any ideas where I am going wrong?

Is the Paypal Express button on the right page? I would have thought it should appear on checkout page 2 where the customer selects the payment method and after they have selected the shipping method and entered all there details, it does seem to me looking at the checkout pages that you could simply move the PayPal express checkout button but just to be safe maybe a quick call to Actinic support would be advisable.

I also just wanted to say you have done a great job with the Actinic Payments on your site, i really liked that there was no bounce page and the explination prior to the customer clicking next to enter there card details. I also thought it all worked really well and was very very clear for your customers what was happening and why.

The Actinic Payments Page design you have used is nice and simple, does not repeat unessecary details such as the customers name/address and delivery name/address but i did think the addition of the verified by mastercard/Visa logo's would be an nice extra inclussion and inspire a little more consumer confidence and also showing the total amount spent would be nice but overal i thought your site was an excellent example of a site using Actinic Payments.

Adrian, I don't think that's an Actinic Payments checkout, it's just a CC capture using Actinic shared SSL.

So it is i wonder if something just as simple as this could be achieved with Actinic Payments?

You really need to take a step back from what you are posting as you clearly have no idea about the differences between the current Actinic SSL payment page and a PSP. The method used on this site is virtually identical to Actinic payments because Actinic payments is the replacement for this method - this is Actinic SSL payments as you obviously dont know.

On the Actinic payments thread you started you slag off the whole method especially the bounce page and here you are saying what a good system is used on this site when in reality they are the same in the way they function with Actinic.

Back to the original post which asks about postage not being applied properly.

What version of actinic are you using as this was a problem in the early days but should have been resolved with 8.5.2 and above. Are you caclulating postage by weight or value?

I would advise upgrading to the latest patch which is 8.5.3 and retesting

Jeeze you can’t even compliment a site for design and functionality on this forum which you would think would have thought would be populated by business professionals

              errrr

Not only does this site not use a bounce page or at least has disabled the bounce and used the page to explain very clearly to customers what is happening but this:

              and this:

              look different to me

Not only do the two look different the two sites function differently, the site in question here works extremely well is very very clear what is happening and why but there is also no additional and unnecessary fluff on the payment page which in turn keeps things very clear and simple throughout the checkout process unlike the sites i tried who use the Actinic Payments.

Back to my point regarding Actinic Payments from the other thread all that is necessary for Actinic Payments is this:

which is rather similar to what the site here has and why I complimented them on the design and functionality of the site. I just don't understand why you continually feel the need to ridicule users of this forum and create arguments and take users topics off topic

I've just tried it on V9.2 and it adds the Paypal Express button to checkout page 0 which is prior to the customer being able to select there shipping.

I've not actually tried it in a live enviroment but in our case the customer can upgrade and select different shipping methods such as with a smaller parcel which can be upgraded from 2nd class post to 1st class recorded delivery or even courier yet these options appear a page after the PayPal Express payment button.

                FGS, Adrian.

There is NO PSP bounce page because, with Actinic SSL, you are not bounced to a PSP.
                Obvious, no?

You are 'on site', under SSL which doesn't give PCI compliance unless your site happens to be PCI compliant (which the majority are not)

The main point about Actinic Payments was to offer a FULLY PCI COMPLIANT PSP.
If ANY part of the payment process is done 'on site' then it would NOT be.

Seriously, do some reading on Actinic SSL, Actinic Payment (including historical posts, ie STFF!) and then come back with an informed view of both and an understanding of why the 2 are completely different entities.
