As far as I'm aware for a new transaction you need to get the details again. You could add the items to an old order and use the pay feature, but obviously there would be no separate audit trail for the new purchases.

I thought that might be the case, although reading through this thread made things a little unclear.

It's worth finding out what the actual situation is with AP.

With secpay you can put a 'repeat' transaction through on the same card as was used previously. You just assign a new order / reference number, enter the amount and then submit it.

This very handy for when customers phone up / email asking for something else to be added to the order.

There must be lot's of situations where this functionality is a necessity so I'd be surprised if AP didn't offer it.

Adding a new order and using previous payment details is on the wish list for Actinic Payments.

There is one possible cloud on the horizon. The card schemes are threatening to not process payments without a valid CV2. Since it's utterly against the rules to store a CV2 value, no PSP would be able to process repeat payments if this is fully enforced. You would need a "Continuous Authority" merchant account, and the interface from the PSP to the bank would need to be developed amd tested where it's not already in place.

Having been a web retailer for a number of years, it is clear to me that banks understand less and less about THEIR customers requirements!

Hotels seem to be able to take extra payments without any validation so why not e-tailers. The customer is protected by the chargeback system after all.
