Protx Problem - .ini file in V9 Business Plus

    Hi all,

First post here. Have had a good search and cannot find an answer to this so I'm hoping someone can help.

We are running a site successfully on Actinic Business Plus V.9 and are using Protx as the PSP. I am currently, however, having issues trying to integrate Protx to a new site due to launch next week. All imformation has been inputted correctly into Business Settings but I am having real issues getting the file 'OCCProtxScriptTemplate.ini' to save correctly

Within the file 'OCCProtxScriptTemplate.ini' , I am changing the Password data to the correct Encryption Password for our account as instructed elsewhere on the forum and on the Protx site itself. I am also altering the email address so Protx payment details go to our accounts team.

I am then going into the 'OCCupgrade.ini' and incrementing the number at the top of the page by one as instructed on the Protx site.

The problems start when I close Actinic down and restart ready for an upload. There are the usual scripts detailing that the PSP has changed. However, when I go back into the 'OCCProtxScriptTemplate.ini' file, the information has reverted back to the Encryption Password for a different site. Similarly, the email address has changed to that for our other site.

Does anybody know what may be causing this or the best way to fix it? I'm working to a tight deadline and need to get things up and running on this new site within the next 24 hours.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

this has been discussed a lot but there's so much cr*p on the forum that also comes up in a search, you'd probably never find it!

    THIS POST should help
Basically, change the order you're doing things in and it should work ok.
    It's a PITA!

      Thanks for the response.

I have managed to get the file working now so it isn't overwritten every time. This stemmed from us having 2 x ProtxScriptTemplate Files. We are running the software on an external server and had an additional file on the C drive which was overwriting the actual file for the site. Paths are as follows:

      1) C:\Program Files\Actinic v9\OCCUpgrade\CommonOCC: I amended the details within this file as I believed it was overwriting the Protx template on the following:

      2) F:\Actinic shared\Site2\CommonOCC: Here we have a shared folder containing the details for all of our sites.

Has anybody come across this before? In spite of having the correct details behind the Template file on the F drive now, I still cannot get Protx to work on this new site. The details are all present and correct but it just refuses to go through to Protx. Could I have messed things up by changing the file on the C:drive?

        Update:

I am now really very confused by the 'OCCProtxScriptTemplate.ini' file on the C:drive. It definitely appears to overwriting the site specific Protx template files on the F:drive. Consequently, after changng the data in this file to reflect the changes for my new site, I was informed that the PSP settings had been changed when I switched over to my exisiting site in Actinic. This meant having to go back to the file on the C:drive and inputting the correct details all over again.

I'm back to square one now. I am definitely inputting things in the right order but, try as I might, the site specific Protx files keep getting overwritten by the file on the C drive.

if you change the occupgrade.ini and then reopen actinic, it WILL overwrite the script.

Ignore the OCCProtxScriptTemplate in the program files and just edit the one in the SITE folder as in the link I gave you, in that order.
          It should work.

              protx keeps resetting

              Hi
I know it has been covered many times and I have tried to follow the instructions in great detail but each time I open actinic v8.5 it overwrites my OCCPROTXScriptTemplate.pl back to the default (testvendor).

I recently updated my v8 to v8.5. It did not do this before.

am I just being stupid ?

                not stupid, no
Just following the instructions less than perfectly, I suspect.
                a) make sure you are changing the OCCProtxScriptTemplate in the correct site folder (easy to be doing this in the wrong place. Take it from someone who has been there!) It'll be in your documents >V9 > Sites > site-whatever

                b) ensure you change it AFTER changing the OCCUpgrade.ini file and reopening Actinic

It does work. Darren's post in the link I posted earlier is the most concise way of doing it all.

Are you using vista, if so it will undo the changes you make under program files, turn off UAC, before you make the changes. You should be ok though if your are changing the files under the documents/site folder. Not the ones under program files.

As Tracey said, follow they way i listed it, step by step
