    Help Setting up Paypal Pro

    Hi,

I am having problems setting up paypal pro on my website.

I have slected paypal pro from the dropdown but am unsure on merchant login, user and pass?

Are these the same as my login details to paypal or not?

Also what other option do i need selecting from the dropdown menu? As it is saying something about credit card capture? There is a few options so unsure exactly which one to select?

Also do i need to add SSL for this as i though you still go over to paypal to take the payment?

    Cheers,
    Adam

As far as I know Paypal Pro takes the card details on your website, so I would definitely recommend getting an SSL certificate.

        Hi Adam

I have just done this and its not to much of a headache to do m8

First of all you need to get an SSL, We got this from Actinic for £100. You can call them and once paid they will email you a user id to put into the credit card capture information

If you already have a pro account you will have your user login and pass ect
If you don't have an account then you will need one, cost is £20 per month

You have to select the credit card capture and PayPal pro for it to work, once you have put in your user id for the ssl thats that part done, vendor ect for paypal pro part and your done

We now run this with paypal standard as from yesterday and our first ten sales today was with pro

        Thanks

The sticky advises you what to use if you signed up direct to Paypal, have a good read of it, not a flick through. It will explain each field, what goes in there and who provides it.

I have had a good look through and i know that the vendor is: PayPalUK

But i am still unsure what my merchant login, user and password is on the website? Is the user and password the same as the ones i use to login to the website? if so what is the merchant login? I have not been given this from paypal?

The sticky clearly states that Paypal will provide this information, so I would recommend chasing Paypal, only they can help you. Check your SPAM folder possibly, details might be in there if you say you haven't got them.

I found a section in paypal for Manage Payflow Pro Access which gives me:

                  User Partner Vendor Password

But when i tried them out i get:

"An error received from PayPal Pro Website Payments. Try again or select a different payment method. The error was: Invalid vendor account"

                  Any ideas?

Am i looking in the correct place for the details or not? Paypal are taking ages to reply to my emails and their phone support is shocking.

                      Hello mate,

I just finished sorting this issue out, here is how I did it:

Vendor: PayPalUK (unless you bought PayPal Pro somewhere else other than PayPal UK)

for the rest of the info you need to login to your Paypal account, go to profile>>request API credentials>>option 2>>setup payflow pro api access

                      In actinic:

Merchant login: input the Vendor code found in the PayPal Manage Payflow Pro Access window

User: input the User code found in the PayPal Manage Payflow Pro Access window

Password: input the Password code found in the PayPal Manage Payflow Pro Access window

This should sort it for you.

                        Hi Folks,

I had subscribed and couldn't find anything clear until I read the above post by 10thWay and it worked great! Just remember the column headings in PayPal are not the same headings on the boxes that you fill out on Actinic when you add the payment provider.
