Moving from Sagepay to Actinic Payments

    Hi all,

I'm moving (or testing out for a bit) my PSP from Sagepay to Actinic payments. Any thoughts?

Reason is too many time-out errors from Sagepay, some customers have to try 3 or 4 times before a successful payment is made. Some customers give up and I lose the sale.

I know not all un-paid orders can be blamed on Sagepay as sometimes it's the banks fault, or customers don't have the funds in bank account.

Before Sagepay I was with Worldpay for about 5 years and never had this timeout error or the payment page crashing with them.

Does any with Actinic Payment have errors like this?
    Regards,

    Les

    Les,

I have a couple of clients on AP and they seem very happy. There was a spell recently where there was some issue, you will be able to find exact details on the forum, but other than that I think it's been very well received.

If you're running V9 then it AP is integrated very well within the software.

Actinic Payment contracts run on a month by month basis, so it may be very easy for you to test the water, without having to commit to a full year.

I'm sure as the morning coffees are digested that some retailers will be able to comment on the topic for you too.

      Hi,

Thanks for this reply. I'm runnnig V9 so AP seems the right move, I signed up for AP last week and I've asked Barclays Merchant to set-up new merchant numbers to work with Creditcall.

I'm going to leave Sagepay and merchant numbers as they are and I'll test out AP for a month or so.

      I'll report my findings.
      Regards,

      Les

We have recently moved from NoChex to Actinic Payments and had a large drop in the number of dropouts at the PSP stage and a very happy with our move to AP.

            Hi Wes,

Are you planning on keeping Sagepay as a backup all the time or just a few months for testing?
            Regards,

            Les

we have had sage/ptotx on backup for 5 months. Previously we had actinic payments on reserve and protx as main payment provider.

It is always good to have a second payment provider on backup if u can afford it. In the past we have had protx go down at Christmas and the cost is more than worth it in our mind.

To: Darren from Golf Tree Warehouse,

Off topic, how do to get Actinic to do the multiple images here:
                http://www.golfteewarehouse.co.uk/ac...Golf_Tees.html

                Is it a plugin?

It is Norman's 'Multi Product Images' plugin from Drillpine as linked to by Rich.
It is well worth the £35 + VAT.

                        Hi Wes,

Do you have seperate merchant accounts for Sagepay and Actinic payments? With Barclays merchant services they say I need seperate merchant accounts, one for Sagepay and one for Actinic payments. With my American express merchant number I can use on both PSP.

Having to run 2 lots of merchant account numbers means I will get a charge from Barclays for the Sagepay account if I don't use it (minimum payment charge). As well as the Protx monthy fees.
                        Regards,

                        Les

                            Hi Guys,

Whats the AP support like? Sagepay isn't bad at the moment and it's 24 hours now I think.

So far support with Actinc Payments has been rubbish! I've phoned them a few times this week and also emailed them with no reply at all.

I'm waiting for my 2 AP accounts to be set-up, no updates, no replies.

Good support is important! If this keeps up I'll stick with SagePay, they reply to emails and answer the phone.
                              Regards,
