Any advantages in using alternate payment providers?

We currently offer HSBC card payments as a payment provider. (with absolutely no problems whatsoever - only 2 outages last year for which I was compensated for)

I was just contemplating offering Paypal Pro as an alternate payment option for customers who hold Paypal accounts, but after having read the complications involving delivery addresses, compliances, £20 mthlyfees, Payment delays etc, I am beginning to change my mind.

I was wandering if there is any benefit in offering Sage-Protex (or paypal as above) as well as HSBC?

    Any thoughts/comments would be appreciated

If you keep to Paypal standard and avoid Paypal Pro there is no monthly fee or problem with PCI-DSS compliance.

The fees are probably higher than HSBC but having a combination of Paypal standard and a PSP like Actinic Payments or HSBC seems to be the most recommended combination.

      Thanks,

and would paypal standard allow the use of different delivery address/invoice address? and are there any other issues that I need to be aware of using this?

if you have the budget for 2 psp's the last one i'd go for it PPP.

why not look at Actinic payments or as Darren says Paypal website payments.

There are alot of shop keepers here who use paypal website payments as a backup - lots of people have a paypal acct and can thus shop without having a credit card handy - even though its 4ish% there isn't a monthly fee.

PPP also requires you to have an SSL cert which is another cost, but its PCI that really kills it off (IMO)

yes you can have alt delivery address, but this wont be confirmed, but thats the same as any order regardless of PSP

We've used PP for many years and dont have any more problems with shoppers who use it versus our shoppers who use our other PSP.

I think that results vary significantly by business. However many online stores will see an increase in orders, maybe as much as 10%, by allowing Paypal to be used as the payment method as well as debit and credit cards. The use of "pay in store" solutions like Payoffline may help, too. It depends to some extent on what you are selling.
