Paypal Website Payments Pro Script Problem

I am trying to set-up Paypal Website Payments Pro on a site. I have read all of the guides and I believe that I have set it up correctly, yet when I click on the paypal button or go to the direct payment screen, enter my card details and click submit, I get the following error message.

Internal Server Error, this is an error with your script, check your error log for more information.

I'm trying to find the error log to see if I can get any more info. Any help would be appreciated.

It's not PCI compliant from what we are told, so perhaps fate is dealing you a nice hand and encouraging you to do things in a better and alternative way.
