Actinic with PayPal Pro and 3D Secure

I'm getting progressively more frustratred with Actinic's ignorance to implement the 3D secure code on their Catalogue V9 software package.

As from the 21st of January the 3D secure code will be a must and we won't be able to accept Maestreo or verified by Visa etc credit cards on our website.

Now, one of the major reasons we've purchased two packages of Actinic software was the integration of Paypal Pro. However I now feel that if I am unable to accept certain credit/debit cards online then the integration of PayPal Pro is incomplete. As a result to state that PayPal Pro is integrated inside Catalogue V9 is somehow misleading.

I've contacted cardinal commerce with regards to this and got this reply:

    Hello Yanni,

We have still not heard anything from Actinic on integrating 3-D Secure into their platform. I have tried several times to reach out to them but they have not responded.

Feel free to reach out to them and see if you can get a response.
If you do, please direct them to me.

    Best,

It is absolutely unacceptable to sell a product with a particular function that is incomplete. If Actinic wants to ignore the 3D secure update then I would expect that they no longer advertise their software as "PayPal Pro" compatible because it's not!.

Why do I have to come to this point 10 days prior to the implementation of the 3D Secure nagging Actinic to do something about it ?

Completely unacceptable...I'm pretty sure Actinic sales will be affected if nothing is done about that.

Yanni, is this a wind up?

There are numerous threads on this forum and information on Actinic's own website stating that PayPal Pro is not PCI-DSS compliant.

Use another PSP is the message many of us have been saying for a long time now.

Still not 100% clear about this. If PayPal Pro is not PCI DSS compliant, can I carry on using PayPal Pro and perhaps use another company for the PCI DSS thing. In other words is there a way around this or the best thing is to change my PSP ?

Why would you want to if it runs the risk of heavy fines?

          Change PSPs IMO

No problem. There lets of info on alternative PSPs on the forum. If you are using V9 then Actinic Payments integrates very well.

Thank you all for your help. I have just signed with HSBC as I bargained their fees down on credit cards way below paypal so I'm quite happy about this.

Now they say that in order to be PCI compliant I need to sign to another company called secure metrics...Do I really need to in order to accept Maestro and Verified by Visa typpe of cards as this is an additional £147 a year for two websites.

                    Thanks

Have you literally signed? Do you still have options? Security Metrics is well known to the forum for being difficult to deal with......

                        no,no no... they are lying.

search the forum for info on SM there's alot of it. Try Advanced Search keyword "Security Metrics" user cbarling

HSBC should be pci compliant so you inherit compliance from them, then all you do is fill in a form for Level4. Assuming you are Level4.

Security metrics are fine to deal with. One confused member seemed to have a hard time, but I signed up with them (as an HSBC customer) and they were fine.

PS. If you're websites aren't handling payment details then you should be able to get away with only a single charge of £75 from Security Metrics. This is because they only need to do the PCI certification and network test on one place (your office).

The best thing to do is talk to SM on the phone. The people I've spoken to have been very helpful.

                          Mike

PS. You do need a network test on your office network if you submit card details via your computer (such as on a virtual terminal). If you don't do any telephone/mail orders with credit cards then this isn't necessary.

I haven't signed with security metrics yet, just got their info.

I've signed for an HSBC merchant account and their services of handling online and virtual terminal payments.

HSBC should be pci compliant so you inherit compliance from them
If this quote is correct then I will save myself and the company £147 per year, that's a restaurant meal for all of us here!( Hope it is correct!)
