I am getting a few people who make a payment on SagePay by Visa or MasterCard, think for some reason that it failed, then go back and click the PayPal icon on SagePay and pay by PayPal too, both for the same order number. There will be a record of the successful card payment on SagePay, and a record of the successful PayPal payment on PayPal, both with the same order number. One order comes through to us in successful payments. We despatch the one order. A week or two later the customer contacts us complaining that we have taken two payments. How is it possible for somebody to pay twice successfully for one order? Any suggestions as to how we can stop it?

SagePay is worth it
I used to take PayPal not through SagePay, but was not getting seller protection from PayPal because of it. This was costing us in dishonest customers raising disputes when they had received delivery. We use the 3rd man checks on SagePay all the time, making sure goods go signature required when the fraud score is high, and this has also saved us in dishonest customers saying they did not receive goods as they had not signed, even though there was pod. The number of problems of duplicate orders as in this thread subject have been less of a problem than the former.
