Do you need to tick SSL on when using Actinic Payments?

Do you need to tick SSL on when using Actinic Payments?

I have currently set up the actinic payments with Actinic V8 and it seems to successfully go to the actinic payments page however I am unsure as whether it is necessary to tick the SSL box.

Is it easy to configure SSL as when I tried to tick the checkbox and uploaded the site to the internet I was shown an error when I tried to carry out a trial payment.

    The error said...

The requested URL /cgi-bin/os000002.pl was not found on this server

any help would be greatly appreciated

      ?

doesn't not using ssl defeat the object of having such a payment service provider as credit card details are therefore not sent encrypted over the internet.

The credit card details are taken by the Actinic Payment servers not your own and these are PCI compliant and therefore secure.

When the customer goes to checkout, they are taken to the Actinic Payment / Creditcall server, which is secure

I called support only a few days ago with this one as I thought I was making an a*** of setting it up. As far as I know if you want SSL you would need to have your site, or parts of it on a secure server (https) as opposed to http.

I am new to this as well, but that's my understanding of it (although I stand to be corrected).
